Wash & CARE
CLOTH PADS & LINERS:
Regardless of the style of pad or liner washing is simple!
WASH IN COLD & DRY LOW-MED HEAT (or line dry). It’s that easy!!! For a more in depth look at washing & tips read on but don’t let yourself be overwhelmed. It really is simple and most customers always come back and say they wished they never hesitated because it was not as hard as they thought.
For best results give the pads & inserts a rinse with COLD water upon use & store in a pail, container, or wet bag until you are ready to wash them.
This is also a great time to use BUNCHA FARMERS STAIN BARS to pre-treat any stains (but this is totally optional). Some people choose to soak cloth pads until they are washed. I personally prefer the rinse and leave them until I am ready to wash. See what works for you!
If you are on the go and don’t want to rinse your pad that’s okay! Fold up the ends of the pad towards the center and snap in place. This will keep the pad contained until you can rinse it at home. If you prefer you can also purchase a TRAVEL WET BAG or a PAD WRAPPER to store your cloth pads in on the go and just deal with it later!
Wash your pads by hand or in your washing machine using Cloth Diaper/Eco Friendly Soap. Always use COLD water. You do not want to use hot/warm water as that will set any staining.
For best results, line dry outside or with circulating air. Our pads can be tossed in the dryer if you prefer, but we suggest Low-Medium heat to avoid any damage to the pads.
DRYER TIP: Your pads have a HEMP inner core. Hemp is very absorbent and takes a bit longer to dry so you may want to toss a towel in the dryer with your cloth pads. It helps to distribute the heat evenly and dry your pads faster :)
Mama Cloth storage is simple! I prefer wet bags (doesn’t get stinky and breathes unlike a plastic storage container) but use what you have! Visit my shop for storage solutions!
WRINKLED??? If you’re Mama Cloth becomes wrinkled (may happen with cotton flannel pads if you do not remove from the dryer immediately), feel free to iron it to give it that “Like New” look. It is NOT suggested to press the Organic Velour/PUL Pads.
Store in a Dry Container. This can be a plastic container, clean wet bag, or basket until ready for use each month
Cloth pads are fantastic for Cloth Diapering Mama’s since no extra laundry is required just toss in the wash with your diapers & wipes!
DO NOT USE FABRIC SOFTENER ON CLOTH PADS, CLOTH DIAPERS, WIPES OR NURSING PADS!
Fabric Softener ruins the absorbency of fabric. Fabric softeners work by coating the surface of the cloth fibers with a thin layer of chemicals. Not only is this something you do NOT want on your “Sensitive Areas” but it will ruin the absorbency of these items.
INTERLABIAL PADS:
Before using your interlabial pads, you will need to wash them several times. This is because they are made from cotton and they require washing to make them absorbent. They should reach maximum absorbency after about 5 washes. It’s helpful to wash them in a mesh laundry bag so that they do not get lost in your machine.
You can store your interlabial pads however you like, but it’s useful to keep them in a small bag or wet bag as they are quite small and likely to get lost if you don’t.
Do NOT use fabric softner on your interlabial pads as it will ruin the absorbency of the fabric.
CLOTH PAD WING EXTENDERS:
To increase the longevity of your Cloth Pad Wing Extenders, avoid machine washing them. Please be sure to remove your extenders before tossing your cloth pads in the washer. Because of their position under the pad, it is unlikely that they will become soiled. If you do need to wash your Extenders, we suggest hand-washing them and air drying!
MERINO WOOL & HEMP NURSING PADS NEW:
-Use & store soiled items in a wet bag until ready to wash.
-Dump entire wet bag & contents in to the machine or handwash in cold or luke warm (can wash with towels or other like items)
-Hang or lay flat to dry (can put in the dryer but low-medium heat only).
-Iron on low if needed
-DO NOT USE BLEACH OR FABRIC SOFTENER ON THIS ITEM (See notes above)
COTTON FLANNEL NURSING PADS:
-Machine wash cold or luke warm with your towels, cloth diapers, or Mama Cloth
-Machine Dry on Low-Medium Heat or Lay Flat to dry for best results
-If over time your nursing pads get wrinkled from wash & wear feel free to iron them! Cotton Nursing pads are OK to press on Medium/High heat but it is best to use a curved surface or ironing ham to achieve that contoured shape & give your nursing pads that “new” look.
-Store in a dry container or bag until ready for use
-DO NOT USE FABRIC SOFTENER ON THIS ITEM (See notes above)
PAD WRAPPERS & WET BAGS:
-Machine wash with like colours or with your Cloth Diapers/Mama Cloth
-Hang to dry
-Do Not Iron
BABY WIPES * PAPERLESS KITCHEN ROLLS * FAMILY CLOTH BATHROOM ROLLS:
-Machine wash Cool/Warm (Bathroom rolls can be washed with Mama Cloth, Cloth Diapers or Wipes)
-Line Dry or Machine Dry Low to Medium heat
-Press if needed on the FLANNEL side. Make sure you don't iron near the snaps or they will melt!
-DO NOT USE FABRIC SOFTENER ON THIS ITEM (See notes above)
REUSABLE COSMETIC PADS:
-Machine wash on Cool/Warm with your Mama Cloth, Cloth Diapers, Wipes or Towels
TIP: use a dedicates mesh bag so you don’t loose them in your washer with other items
-Tumble Dry Low or Medium
-Do not iron the Organic Bamboo Velour side of these pads. If you must iron them iron the flannel side only.
-Do NOT use fabric softener. Fabric softeners ruin the absorbency in fabrics.
CLOTH HANKIES:
-Machine Wash Warm with Towels/Like Colours using an Eco Friendly Detergent
-Tumble Dry Medium
-DO NOT USE FABRIC SOFTENER (see above).
HEADBANDS:
-Hand wash or machine wash on delicate cycle cool or luke warm. Lay flat to dry and reshape.
-Do not bleach
How to Care for Your Beeswax Wraps
BEESWAX WRAPS: Wash your wraps by hand in cool water with a mild dish soap. Place them on a drying rack or clothesline to dry. Avoid any heat such as hot water, microwaves, or ovens that will cause the beeswax can melt, ruining your wraps.
