Hemp is a variety of Cannabis sativa grown industrially for use in textiles, construction materials, oils, food and more. Hemp grows very tall, with sturdy fibrous stalks and has very low non-intoxicating levels of THC. It's an amazing plant that can be used for so many things including hemp fabric. Here are just a few reasons why we use hemp in our cloth pads....

1. Hemp is 3-4x more absorbent than cotton. That's right. It sucks the moisture up like a wet spongue making it a great option for both #clothdiapers and #clothpads

4. A substainable resource! Yes we are reducing waste by using cloth pads but let's do so using natural and substainabile fibers as well! It's so important we use resources that arent further damaging Mother Earth. Hemp is a hearty crop that can grow almost anywhere in the world and requires only HALF the acreage of cotton and produces 3x more fiber than cotton on the same amount of land!!! READ THAT AGAIN!!! One huge benefit of hemp production is how easy it is on Mother Earth.
5. Naturally Chemical Free! Hemp grows rapidly and unlike conventional cotton it requires NO PESTICIDES OR HERBICIDES! That means less contamination to our waters!!!!
6. Hemp Saves Water!!! Compared to cotton, hemp only needs a fraction of the amount of water to grow and process.
7. Growing Hemp replenishes the soil. Hemp plants purify the soil and deep root systems help preserve topsoil from erosion. Hemp crops do not need to be rotated, and can be grown in the same soil for many years in a row without depleting it.
8. Strong and Sturdy. Hemp fibers are 10x stronger than cotton and one of the strongest plant fibers out there making it a very durable choice for your cloth pads.

Hemp is a plant with huge misconception and stigma. We need to bring more awareness to substainable textiles like this if we are to move forward with reducing our footprint on this Earth.
